My name is Ricardo “Ric” Alonzo. I am an aerospace engineer, I have lived in District 5 since 2017, and I serve as your councilmember for the south side of Montebello.
In January 2025 the District 5 seat opened up. Six people applied. The council chose an engineer. Engineers don’t waste time. We get paid to deliver results. That is what I brought to City Hall, and it is the only thing I am asking you to judge me on.
I grew up in a family that came here from México. The south side is where I live, where I shop, and where I walk my dog. When I say our side of town has been second in line, I am not describing a district on a map. I am describing my street.

En enero de 2025 quedó vacante el puesto del Distrito 5. Seis personas lo solicitaron. El concejo eligió a un ingeniero. Los ingenieros no perdemos el tiempo. A mí me pagan para dar resultados. Eso es lo que traje al Ayuntamiento, y es lo único por lo que les pido que me juzguen.
Crecí en una familia que vino de México. El sur es donde vivo, donde hago las compras, y donde saco a pasear a mi perro. Cuando digo que nuestro lado de la ciudad ha quedado en segundo lugar, no estoy describiendo un distrito en un mapa. Estoy describiendo mi calle.

One park, one high school, and the high school is the continuation school. We want production jobs on the south side. Not container yards.

We are living in a fast-shifting economy where AI is likely to displace a lot of jobs. If you are not prepared for the future, you will be left in the past. STEM first, and if STEM is not for you, a trade is a real path. Nobody goes to college just to say they went.
